RE: WALMART SHOOTOUT GOOD GUY - 1 BAD GUY - 0

Don't miss the 400 + readers comments at the bottom , looks like there might be a uprising in town.
Security guards are useless , they run the other way and the law is only minutes away .
The townfolk sound like angry gun owners that vote .

RE: Truck bed

You could cut out both sides and the front of the plastic liner and install a 1 / 2 " thick rubber liner on bed floor.
The rubber will hold the plastic in place and still protect the front and side paint of the box , it looks better on my truck to have the bed all black - white truck.

RE: Security while traveling

Well as TC'ers most of us have tools for the job at hand , Even if this tools pic scare's you , have a friend take you to the range , join the NRA , Get your CPL , the bad guy may have 1 or more buddys to back him up.
16 + 1 XD-9 with safe bolted to floor or cable locked around your front seat.

RE: New Truck Camper

The real weight of a loaded to go 845 with A/C is more like 3000 to 3500 lbs
add that to a diesel F350 11,100 lbs +
I would not want to go any smaller than the 845 you will need every inch of space you can get.
The F350 will handle great with a rear sway bar , no air bags needed , but come in handy for leveling when camped .

RE: Height of TC

My 845 should be about the same as a 825 height - 11 feet 1 inch with the A/C unit.

Maxxair Fan/Mate inst pics Over Lance Luggage Rack

Heres a few pics of the Maxxair fan / mate vent cover install on my 2004 lance 845 with factory roof rack.
As you can see its close to the black tank sewer vent , and brkts sit on top of the roof rack rails.
Close fit , but now I can leave that vent up all the time , works great

RE: Gun on trailer?

Its about time rv.net has allowed gun info post to go on this long.
Good info for people thinking about carrying another tool for protection , but you need to get trained how to use it and know firearm laws.
Never thought I needed a permit to protect myself , but went ahead and got a ccw/cpl after being camped near the pisgah NF were the 2 hikers were murdered last year.

Lots of good info - Who sang that country song , Id like to check you for ticks ?
My DW got a tick in her belly button last year in NC after finding some on the dog , she had a sore on and off for about 7 months because all of it did not come out , the doc. said it was a rash.

RE: Hellwig Rear Swar Bar Inst. Pics F350 4X4 SWB

Answers to some of the questions - Cost $238.14 shipped @ summitracing.com - fits 2005 up 2wd & 4wd
I don't believe the 4X4 comes with a factory rear sway bar , mine never had one.
The U bolts fits in the factory slots on the axle tubes.
The links hanging down bolt to the frame rails using factory holes in frame.
I was alittle worried about the links small size , what was going to give / break when the TC dropped the rear 3" when loaded , even called hellwig support on a sat. about it - but its all good to go.
Rust on driveshaft ? I hate rust , it was probley rusty when ford put it on new , going to paint it along with the rusty springs.

Hellwig Rear Swar Bar Inst. Pics F350 4X4 SWB

I like to see pictures of upgrades to our TC's and the test reports - so heres mine on the Hellwig Rr. sway bar install.
Hellwig has a new hammertone paint finish .

http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/vetgirl67/EBAY%20PICS/SWAYBAR-1.jpg
Since the F350 sits so high even loaded the side links should have good ground clearance for off road use.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/vetgirl67/EBAY%20PICS/SWATBAR-4.jpg
Well worth the $$ spent - Now handles flat around corners without that back and forth movement around turns.
Handles much better at highway speeds , switching lanes etc , payload on this F350 is 3725lbs , Lance 845 is 3000 + lbs , Rig weighs in at 11,100 lbs +

RE: Help, New Yamaha 2400 won't run 13.5 AC

ckelly - I was in the same boat you were in. I have a Coleman Mach III and figured with a 2400 I'd have plenty of power to spare. NOT
I felt the same way you did. I finally purchased a supco SPP6E "hard start" kit. It took me 45 minutes to get my cover off safely without damaging it, and 10 minutes to install the unit, and it worked. The 2400 revs up just a smidge and it just purrs. It took me another 10 minutes to mount the unit inside the wiring closet and button up the top.
All in all it was 1:05 job.
Arnold Service is highly recommended on the board and inexpensive. I needed mine to work and quickly. I went to the Supco website, found distributors, called one locally and they had it in stock. I've been golden ever since.
If you have any other questions, send me a private message!
good luck.
josh
If you need more help, send me a PM.Another vote for the Supco hard start , worked on my Carrier 13500.
Sometimes the yamaha will not ramp up the rpm fast enough to start ac , but seems to get better as the new Gen and ac unit break in.
Ran mine for a test about 6 hours in 2 days 90 out - failed to start 2 times and used almost a tank of fuel.

RE: Trying to cut fuel costs, what are you doing?

I've been adding upgrades to the truck and TC instead of getting ripped off at the pump .
Canceled a NC 2200 mile trip - Camping in MI. this year .
I vote for gas prices to match diesel prices tommorow and then see how Bocko-Mamma is going to fix that one.

That's a large campground 525 sites , just looked at there website
here OLD ORCHARD CAMPGROUND
I'm looking to travel in michigan instead of getting ripped off at the pump , might as well spend it in our state with some of the best CG's in the country , most by rivers or lakes.
Joe - thanks for letting me know - area is on the MI.scenic drive list - River Road Scenic Byway.

RE: Diesel vs gas......................

It has been what 20 days since I last posted.
NH gas $3.75
NH Diesel $4.50
Last night we test drove a 06' F-350 PSD. I hit the dumby computer to see what kind of mileage we could get on the test drive. 18 mpg. If that holds true, I would be all about becoming a diesel owner. I couldn't get 18 with my Hemi on the best of days around town. Well, maybe if that Ford was pushing me.
I am in the process of checking mpg with my Hemi. Results next week.
Tomorrow we are looking at a 06' Cummins.
Happy Camping,
Please Oil Companies - Raise the price of gas to match the price of diesel so we can all be in the same boat together , now i did it, flame on gassers .
Camp with Cash - You can get that 18mpg I have one 14 mpg hauling the 3500lb. TC under 65mph.

RE: Would you buy a diesel again (second time)

Lots of stuff - You must have forgot what its like pulling or hauling with a gas motor - Unless I pulled or hauled on a perfect flat road I would never go back to a gas truck.

As already stated, people don't RV to save money. It's a RECREATION. A lot of people in fact leave the RV home when traveling because of the cost.
We rv to save $$$ 14 MPG 17 downhill
